1342 Photos Showed Palm Tree love in the Eyes of 335 Photographers from 27 Countries Worldwide .
A Competition Organized by KIDPA in Coordination
with Abu Dhabi International Photographic Society
The General Secretariat of KIDPA announced the names of winners in the International Photographic competition ” The Palm Tree in The Eyes of the World ” in its fifth edition 2014 which was organized under the patronage of HH. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan Minister of Culture , Youth & Community Development , Chaiman of Board of Trustees of KIDPA in cooperation with Abu Dhabi International Photographic Society . The above was stated in a press release by Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid . General Secretary of KIDPA after approving the results

The contest witnessed in its fifth edition a challenging competition among 335 photographers representing 27 countries world wide . The General Secretary added ” We are working under the instructions of HH Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan Minister of Culture , Youth & Community Development , Chairman of Board of Trustees of KIDPA to originate man’s KIDPA relationship with his vital surrounding , particularly , the Date Palm Tree ” . He asserted as well that ” We highly value the support of HH to the photographers` innovation who participated in the competition from all parts of the world by employing photography as a means to develop public awareness in the importance of the palm tree so as to create ample space to exchange experience among photographers , professional and armature , by displaying the tourist , environmental and heritage components of the date palm tree through the photograph and promote man’s engagement with land and agriculture .
Statistically , the competition has achieved a remarkable increase amounting to 45% in the number of participants in comparison with the number of last year . The number of Arab participants was 292 from 17 countries against 43 participants from 10 foreign countries . Moreover , the number of young participants reached to 253 against 82 female participants .
The Secretary General of the ward affirmed that a honoring celebration to the winners in the competition along with the winning and distinguished photos shall be held in the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi on the margin of the Date Palm Fifth International Forum activities during the period between 16-18 March 2014 in addition to the honoring celebration of the winners of KIDPA . He expressed his pleasure of the great love and appreciation he read in the eyes of the palm tree photographers from all parts of the world. He appreciated as well the efforts exerted by the armature and professional photographers .
